This bath connects the 19th century with the 21st century through a mix of some things old -- or at least old-looking -- and some things new.
The homeowners wanted their small master bathroom to reflect the style of their Coronado Island, California, home, which dates to 1886. To add a touch of vintage charm, the couple included a rewired chandelier and chrome accessories. Modern conveniences such as a double vanity, solid-surfacing countertop, and recessed lighting supplement the other fixtures.

I love it when the bathroom feel more like a room, than a bath.
8/19/2010 05:07:00 PM Report AbuseI was looking for decorating ideas for my apartment 5x7 bathroom. Please some ideas for "traditiional" sized small bathrooms. What you have shown appear to be master bath ideas. Sorry but even some of your powder rooms are larger than my bathroom!
7/23/2010 12:24:03 PM Report AbuseI have a 5x7 bath, took out the old cabinet vanity and put in a pedestal sink. It opened up space, but now lack storage. Wish I had room for built in cabinetry shown in the slides .
7/14/2010 10:28:34 PM Report Abuse5x7 make-overs please, ditto to what others have said. I guess you're using a Texan's perspective.
7/6/2010 05:47:36 PM Report AbuseI really don't believe this picture is in small bathroom ideas. This is far from a small bathroom. You need to show pictures of small bathrooms in houses that the average Joe lives in!
7/6/2010 02:59:25 PM Report AbuseWOW!! these bathrooms are huge in comparison to what i have ok umm i need ideas on how to decorate or update a bathroom the size of a coffin !! im being serious
7/3/2010 12:29:02 PM Report AbuseI guess I need to look for "TINY Bathroom Ideas" !!
6/21/2010 11:11:05 AM Report AbuseWhat do you consider a small bathroom? In my book these do not qualify at all.
5/24/2010 03:58:34 PM Report AbuseNone of your "small" are small. please give ideas for truely small bathrooms
3/29/2010 11:12:09 AM Report AbuseThe bathroom is gigantic compared to what I have in my 1923 cottage. It is beautiful, though. I love the style. Janice
3/24/2010 12:16:06 AM Report AbuseI also have a 5'x8' bathroom. We have opted to remove the tub and replace with a shower. We are putting in neutral tile on wall and floor. Still debating on vanity w/sink or pedestal sink. Still have time to decide on that while we wait for shower floor to come in.
3/15/2010 10:32:56 AM Report Abusebathroom is original (1911) with a slant wall. pipes freeze in winter and the water pressure is nill. Remodeling with eye on sellable features so need a tub.Clawfoot will go-space is 6 x 10. window and door mirror each other and I need to reconfigure the space for storage and tub/shower, sink, toilet. These bathrooms are too large for my small space. Please give us makeovers for 'TINY' bathrooms.....sounds like I'm not alone in the request. Thanks
3/8/2010 11:51:21 PM Report AbuseIf anyone needs more ideas on ways to design a small bathroom, check out http://www.modernbathroom.com/showers-tubs/. Instead of showcased bathrooms, you can browse through individual fixtures, like bathroom vanities and vessel sinks, through specific categories. They have a lot of options for tiny bathrooms as well. :)
3/8/2010 03:03:26 PM Report AbuseI agree the lack of a tub may not hurt resale.
3/2/2010 08:48:06 PM Report AbuseA lot of these bathrooms are not small on these pictures so I cant connect the ideas given to my small bathroom.
2/28/2010 06:55:09 PM Report AbuseI like the look of #5 Small Bathroom Ideas: Traditional-Style Bathrooms. Would like to see the rest of the room.
2/17/2010 06:47:58 PM Report AbuseI agree with the above notes. My bathroom as well, must me super tiny!!!
2/17/2010 09:02:28 AM Report AbuseI also agree. I have the small 5X7 with tub, toilet and sink. Mine is a micro bathroom also. Need ideas for TINY bathrooms.
2/17/2010 08:43:05 AM Report Abusewe just redid our small (5'x8') bathroom and it looks wonderful. We have a 38"x38" shower and 48" vanity with extra drawer space on the bottom and one of the new higher toilets. Sure I'd like a beautiful bathtub - but there's no room I'd rather have the extra space. I don't think that the lack of a tub really affects the resale value
2/17/2010 07:35:29 AM Report AbuseThese are NOT small bathroom pics. My largest bath is about 8x5 feet & it has a shower/tub,vanity & toilet. There isn't even enough space for a linen closet. HELP! I'm not the only one that has commented on this. Is there a possibility that our comments will be taken seriously and we can expect to see some new pics of "SMALL BATHROOMS"?
2/16/2010 12:37:13 PM Report AbuseI'd love some REAL ideas for SMALL bathrooms, too! i guess my bathroom must be super tiny!
2/16/2010 07:54:05 AM Report AbuseI only wish my bathroom were big, then redesigning and decorating would be much easier. Please show us some small bathroom ideas and renovations. Inspire us!
2/15/2010 11:29:48 AM Report AbuseI agree with the others. My small bath is 5 x 7. I have to fit the tub/shower, toilet, sink and a radiator. Where are the designs for this size room. I guess we have micro bathrooms.
2/15/2010 10:35:53 AM Report AbuseI agree with the size thing. Small bathrooms do not have space available for two sinks. Be realistic!
2/15/2010 10:29:15 AM Report Abusethese bathrooms are NOT small. Let's have some ideas on a 5 X 7 room with tub, toilet and sink all touching each other and only a small walk area.
2/9/2010 07:54:47 AM Report AbuseI've been looking for SMALL bathroom ideas for quite some time now.None of these are small. Come on....Let's see SMALL baths. Mine is only 5 X 7.
2/2/2010 06:59:58 AM Report AbuseThis bath does not look small. Come on guys!
1/26/2010 07:24:41 AM Report AbuseI agree if I look at all the pictures, but these are designers. When I had a 5x8 bathroom I thought it was tight, now with this 5x5'6' closet that's my main bath, tight and small. So I see features that I can use in the pictures i.e. a tile, a mirror etc. not the whole room. The designers should clarify what dimensions are small. This would be helpful to everyone.
1/7/2010 09:54:37 PM Report AbuseI have a 5'x5'6" bathroom.Tub is along the5'wall across from the door. The toilet is 2"from the tub and next is the vanity, then the doorway. The tub is under a window 44" wide.House a duplex, with neighbor on one side, and small bedroom on other. Want to remodel the bathroom, need some ideas.Should I put in a corner sink by the door, move toilet over 2"from tub and where would mirror go?I'm large, so need a soaker tub, friend suggested a shower with a seat instead. Would affect resale.
1/7/2010 09:42:20 PM Report AbuseI live in a small apartment above an old bank building. I have a 1/2 bath with commode and sink. The other 1/2 bath has a shower/tub unit and I have my up/down washer dryer there. Any ideas on how to add storage place. Thanks.
1/5/2010 06:34:43 PM Report Abuse1 agree. i also have a 5x8 bath and need solid ideas
12/29/2009 09:41:21 AM Report AbuseI have 2 baths: 5x8 and 9x13. Had hoped for design tips. I prefer small bath. Andersen awning window is above tub/shower enclosure; it provides wonderful light, ventilation, privacy. No need for a covering. White pedestal sink & toilet have backsplash and nice detail. Oversized brass fixtures are a focal point. New fixtures added instant impact. Flooring & toilet seat are faux oak. Walls are white & bare. No storage. No mirror. Lights over sink--"brass" is peeling. Designer's midas touch needed!
12/25/2009 12:12:47 AM Report AbuseThese pictures are "not really" small bathrooms.
12/23/2009 01:02:12 PM Report AbuseMy small bathroom is 5 x 8 also and it is small.
12/22/2009 09:04:32 PM Report AbuseI have yet to see a SMALL bathroom. My bathroom can fit inside some of these showers! I have a 5X7 bathroom. WHy can't you show that size room? I'd like to see someone do mine over and give it all it needs. Some of these bathrooms even have washers and dryers in them!!!! Unreal for the average homeowner.
12/22/2009 04:12:44 PM Report AbuseJust remodeled my small master bath with one sink, toilet and added a shower with a small car wash for the body. It is great. Be glad to share pictures.
12/21/2009 07:54:31 PM Report AbuseSmall Bathroom Ideas: Traditional-Style Bathrooms - Would like to know were to buy this cabinet in cherry for my dressing room? Slide 3 of 25 Small Bathroom 2: Kids' Bath This bath gets cozy with golden hues and a lighthearted motif for children. Working within the original footprint of the space and staying true to the Arts and Crafts style of the home, the homeowners put in a new vanity. The piece in buttery hues serves as a focal point, dressed up with fanciful cutouts.
12/21/2009 07:37:20 PM Report AbuseWe have a small master bath 10 x 8 +/-. would like to keep double sink and have walk in shower. (no tub)
12/21/2009 05:15:26 PM Report AbuseI have a small bathroom. Come to my house to design something more useful for the average homeowner.
12/21/2009 03:23:01 PM Report AbuseDitto Ditto to the small bathroom saga...mine also is 5x7...
12/21/2009 02:59:43 PM Report AbuseI agree...these are NOT small bathrooms. My master bathroom is tiny. I bought an older home and am remodeling it, but dont have the budget to add on a new big bathroom, so I want REAL ideas on how to renovate a REALLY SMALL bathroom that just has a toilet, shower and one sink...no room for much else.
12/21/2009 01:00:20 PM Report AbuseREALITY CHECK! These are NOT small bathrooms AT ALL!!! Try coming to each persons' homes that have responded to your article to find out what a small bathroom is.
12/21/2009 12:28:13 PM Report AbuseI absolutely agree with each of you! Writers, designers - Get real already!
12/21/2009 12:23:28 PM Report Abusethis is ridiculous to call this a small bathroom!!
12/21/2009 11:39:15 AM Report AbuseI agree some are so elegant i would love to convert my 5x7 1/2 bath into a full any ideas that won't break the bank
12/21/2009 11:28:03 AM Report Abuseinstead of inspiring me you have depressed me....the smallest bathroom you had made my biggest bathroom look small. Your article totally missed the mark. The ideas were pretty but come on....
12/21/2009 10:52:48 AM Report AbuseSo frustrating to click on an article like this, thinking it might pertain to us people who have tiny, tiny rooms with low ceilings in an old 60's house...
12/21/2009 10:24:13 AM Report Abuselol! yes exactly.
12/21/2009 10:20:04 AM Report AbuseAMEN TO THAT! They say small - how about a Master Bath that is 4 x 8 - and 4 of the 8 is a walk in shower? I mean come on - I've learned to scoff at these 'small bath" makeovers.
12/21/2009 10:05:51 AM Report Abuserpihnen: I don't get your problem. Obviously these bathrooms are small...I mean, com'on, they look like they can only hold 10 people at MOST, not like the usual 20 I can cram in mine. Seriously though, none of those bathrooms could be possibly smaller than my kitchen. What can you guys do with a 5x7 bathroom?
12/20/2009 12:12:07 AM Report AbuseI echo lazidaisies sentiment-what about those of us who truly have SMALL bathrooms? We are the ones who really need help! I would love to have a segment on that!
12/14/2009 10:40:41 AM Report AbuseTwo fairly large vanities, a tub and a walk-in shower = "Small" bathroom? Why don't you give room dimensions with each photo? Do you ever give ideas for bathrooms that are truly small, say the old standard 5' x 7' bathroom? This is frustrating, because your idea of small is what many of us don't even have as large.
11/24/2009 06:39:10 AM Report AbuseI like every thing here,i hope to study the decoration but i don't know any site can help me to study it.
