As the tallest and most-used kitchen appliance, the refrigerator is often difficult to position in a floor plan. Here, the best place for the refrigerator was an alcove that served as a butler’s pantry. A widened doorway allowed the refrigerator—and secondary sink—to be close to the cooktop and side-by-side ovens without taking up limited wall space in the kitchen.
