Golden crackle-finish tiles extend from floor to ceiling in the tub area of this 5x10-foot bath. A white-tile-covered plywood shadow box is backlit by slim fluorescent tubes, drawing attention away from the room's compact, boxy dimensions.
Continuing the golden color onto the floor requires a different type of tile -- wall tiles aren't as durable as those made for floors and countertops. Terra-cotta tiles set on the diagonal make the narrow room seem a little wider. They provide a good nonslip surface but must be properly sealed to be waterproof.
