Step 1: Acclimate flooring to room.
To prevent buckling and other problems after installation, unopened cartons of flooring should sit in the room where it will be installed for 48 to 96 hours before installing. This allows for expanding and contracting due to the room’s humidity and temperature.
Step 2: Remove base molding and old flooring.
Gently pry base molding from the wall and store safely for reinstallation upon completion of laying flooring. If necessary, remove old flooring, such as carpeting and wood flooring. Make sure floor is dry, clean of debris, and level.
Step 3: Install underlayment.
Foam underlayment is an easy-to-install sound absorber. Roll underlayment out to cover entire space, making sure not to overlap strips. Cut strips with a utility knife.
