Install a Laminate Floor

Step 12: Install trim pieces.
After all of the laminate planks are installed, remove all spacers and reinstall the base moldings from Step 2. Use transition pieces to connect the laminate floor to adjoining surfaces such as carpet and linoleum, making sure not to nail through the laminate planks. If you’re installing the floor in a bathroom, seal pipes and the perimeter of the room by laying a bead of 100-percent-silicon caulk around pipes and the perimeter before installing the base moldings. Allow 24 hours after finishing before walking on the floor. This allows enough time for the pipe sealant to dry and the floor to settle.
