Step 5: Cut and prepare the panels.
After the panels have acclimated, cut them to the desired height. Measure the positions of any outlets, light switches, or other boxes on the wall, and transfer those measurements to the back of the panel. Using a jigsaw or keyhole saw, cut out the holes. You’ll need to install a box extender at each electrical outlet to ensure that wires are at proper depth.
Step 6: Paint the panels.
Consider painting the panels before installing them to minimize paint drips. You also can paint the panels after hanging them on the wall. In either case, brush on one coat of stain-resistant primer, and apply two coats of satin-finish acrylic latex paint using brushes or rollers.
