Woven Wonder
Woven veneer edging gives this door a special texture.
Materials to Buy
- Paintbrush
- Stain-blocking primer
- White latex paint
- Iron-on birch veneer edging
- Thin board
- Kraft paper
- Blue latex paint
- Pushpoints
- Square raised-panel cabinet door
Tools to Gather
- Router
- Fine sandpaper
- Damp cloth
- Saw
- Iron
Step 1: Route out the door’s raised panel.
Step 2: Clean and lightly sand door.
Step 3: Apply a stain-blocking primer, then two to three coats of white latex paint, allowing it to dry after each coat.
Step 4: Weave iron-on birch veneer edging, keeping it tight and even.
Step 5: Using a saw, cut a thin board backing to fit in the routed area.
Step 6: Place the woven edging on top of the backing and cover with kraft paper to keep it from burning. Iron in place.
Step 7: Apply a single coat of blue latex paint to the top of the weaving and allow it to dry.
Step 8: Dry-brush white latex paint onto the blue surface and allow it to dry.
Step 9: Secure the woven edging and panel in place with pushpoints.
